COMMUNITY CAPITAL / INFRASTRUCTURE FORUM 1: Tapping Into Historical Capital to Enrich Current & Future Decision Making
British Columbia’s historical records are overwhelmingly about men – of daring explorers, slogging over endless mountain ranges and paddling canoes through raging rivers. Of lawless gold miners, of tough cowboys who drove mammoth herds of cattle through dust and scrub, or axe-wielding backwoodsmen who toughed it out and settled the far reaches of this province.
But… where were the women? One has to search for their stories but they do exist – colourful, courageous, and just as determined. But is today’s society still building on their accomplishments, or have we slacked off? It’s a question worth exploring.
