LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE BREAKOUT: Managing to Collaborate – Methods to Influence Legitimacy

November 23, 2017
11:45 am  -  11:55 am

Legitimacy is about the justifiability or acceptance of governance initiatives, decisions, and actions. For collaborative initiatives focused on social and environmental sustainability issues, legitimacy is especially necessary for a collaboration to be stable, ordered, and effective. If collaborative initiatives are delegitimized, then resources may be wasted as collaborative processes risk inefficiency or dissolution hindering sustainability efforts.

Strategic awareness and management of legitimacy can help collaborative efforts more effectively achieve their sustainability goals. This presentation will speak to methods and considerations that collaborative managers and practitioners can use to help understand, assess, and influence the legitimacy of collaborative initiatives.
