WATER STEWARDSHIP FORUM 2: Exploring the Evolution & Successes of Sponge Cities

November 22, 2017
3:00 pm  -  3:10 pm

With a current population of 113,000, a land area of more than 300 km2, 75 percent of which is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, and an annual average growth rate of 2.5 percent, Township of Langley is one of the fastest growing municipalities in BC. This presents a delicate balance between the preservation of agricultural land for food production and urban development.

It is within this context that “harmony and integration” is championed with a focus on stormwater management initiatives, based on the three pillars of structure, policies, and infrastructure; aimed at aligning staff, Council, and the community to embrace a ‘green culture’.
