Michael Blackstock is an independent scholar of Gitxsan and Euro-Canadian ancestry. He is a professional forester, chartered mediator, Northwest Coast native artist, and poet. Michael served as a member of UNESCO’s Expert Advisory Group on Water and Cultural Diversity (2008-2012). He has published more than 20 journal articles and chapters, as well as three books, and is the founder of the peer-reviewed theory of Blue Ecology.
