A DEEPER LOOK AT THE UPWARD SPIRAL: Connecting Neuroscience to the Treatment of Anxiety and Depression

Alex Korb

This breakout session will focus on practical uses of recent neuroscience research to help mental health professionals better treat anxiety and depression. One primary objective is to maximize capacity for change in clients with neuro-informed explanations that shift the way they feel about their pathology and engage them in the therapeutic process. Staying grounded in neuroscience, this talk will cover elements of proven cognitive-behavioral interventions like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Behavioral Activation Therapy (BAT) to yield powerful therapeutic effects.
